Building a Legacy
of Faith and Impact

The story of City Harvest Church began in 1989 when Kong Hee, a 25-year-old itinerant preacher and missionary chose to obey God’s calling, and started a new church with only 20 youth. Over the years, the church grew through friendship evangelism, cell groups, and a caring system of reaching out to those in need with practical help and the love of God.

As a Pentecostal church, CHC is Christ-centred, Spirit-led, and Bible-inspired. CHC is highly committed to the Holy Spirit’s active role in the life of believers through Spirit baptism, an emphasis on spiritual gifts
(especially speaking in tongues), the importance of living a holy and sanctified life, and evangelism and missionary work both domestically and internationally.

Our Mission

CHC’s mission statement is to build a church with a strong spiritual atmosphere of faith and purity,

where every member is released into ministry, discipled in the Great Commandment, to obey the Great Commission and the Cultural Mandate. This mission statement yields four core values that every member holds fast to, which is to Encounter God, Cultivate Purpose, Experience Family, and Make a Difference in society. Our firm belief is that our world is at its best when the church is at its best!

In 1996, Pastor Kong and his wife Sun received a vision to build a
Church Without Walls,

a project in which the church members reach out to the poor and marginalised in society. CHC also launched its social services arm, City Harvest Community Services Association in 1997 and today, CHCSA serves the elderly, at-risk youths, low-income families, and those struggling with mental wellness.

On the missions front, The Harvest Network, which is a community of churches and ministry leaders connected to CHC, brings together like-minded, Pentecostal churches and ministries to do the will of God in their respective nations. These include Australia, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Taiwan, the United States, and Vietnam.

Since 1994, City Harvest’s School of Theology has graduated more than 8,200 students from all across the globe to serve as effective ministers of Christ. In collaboration with Vanguard University in the US, SOT now offers AA, BA, and MA degrees in theology, and an MA degree in leadership.
